The firm was founded by Stephen Hart Jackson when he opened an office on Soutergate in 1858. That office soon became too small and the practice moved to Upper Brook Street, then in 1878 to the Savings Bank buildings in Market Street and finally to the present offices, the former Ulverston Post office in 1927. For almost a hundred and fifty years(as at 2009), the firm has offered those legal services required by the local community, and during that time a wealth of knowledge in local matters has accumulated, enhanced by the skills of the partners who have joined the firm over the years.
